Safe Ministry

MAC Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

All children and young people are created by God and are precious to him. They have a right to feel safe and to be safe. Menai Anglican Church is committed to providing an environment where the safety, wellbeing and participation of children and young people is a high priority. We regularly invest in our staff and volunteers to ensure they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to be child safe.

We maintain our commitment to the safety of children and young people by:

  1. Taking a preventative, proactive and participatory approach to child safety.
  2. Empowering children to participate in decisions
  3. Fostering a culture of openness that supports the safe disclosure of risks of harm to children.
  4. Providing written guidance and training  on appropriate conduct and behaviour towards children.
  5. Engaging suitable people to work with children, and providing training and supervision of our staff and volunteers
  6. Making sure children know who to talk with if they are worried or are feeling unsafe.
  7. Supporting children and young people to raise any issues that concern them.
  8. Reporting suspected abuse, neglect or mistreatment promptly and lawfully to the appropriate authorities.
  9. Valuing the input of families and carers.
  10. Reviewing our policies and procedures annually to ensure clear and relevant guidance on appropriate behaviour with children.

All of our leaders have completed a Safe Ministry Check, have a current Working with Children Check number and have complete Safe Ministry Training.
